Meet Lucy
Meet Lucy
Lucy is a mother, a grandmother, a gardener, a friend, an athlete. Mother of Lucy’s Helping Hands co-founder Kathy Jacobs (and Kathy’s siblings Joey and Debbie), Lucille Jacobs has spent a lifetime giving to others and inspiring her family and friends to make better use of the time they have here on earth.
Lucy has survived breast cancer, melanoma and a brain aneurism. She selflessly raised three children in a time when support services for single mothers were nonexistent. She was an esteemed athlete known for her basketball hook shots, her tennis overheads and her softball home runs. Today, Lucille enjoys watching her grandkids, Summer, Katie and Brandon, excel at their own sports and hobbies.
Lucy once told her daughter that her life’s goal was to raise her children to be compassionate, confident adults who contribute daily to the lives of others. Because she has lived a life devoted to serving others, because her compassion was always so powerful, because she is such a strong woman, a spark was ignited…and Lucy’s Helping Hands was born.
Today, Lucy plays an active role in keeping the Lucy’s Helping Hands dream alive by participating in meetings, service projects and other activities. In fact, the LHH vegetable garden is alive and growing, right in her own backyard.
